Designer spotlight

Chiije brings refined fragrance into everyday rituals. Hand poured in Oslo, their 100% plant based candles are known for deep, layered scents and a quiet Nordic elegance. Shared belief in sustainable design and the lasting value of handmade objects has resulted in two collaboration collections: the Candle-Mug and the Chiije Mugs. Each ceramic vessel is slip cast by hand, made to be treasured long after the candle has burned.
Burn it. Wash it. Drink from it.

Closeup of the Latvian red clay

Raw materials

One of the materials we work with is high quality red clay, recognised for its distinctive colour caused by iron oxide. Valued by potters for generations, this clay is known for its strength, durability, and resistance to heat. Often associated with folk art and traditional craftsmanship due to its long history and cultural significance, red clay continues to inspire us. By learning from the past and our craftmanship, we transform this material into elegant, thoughtfully designed pieces made for everyday life.

Craftsmanship and technique

Our technique has been passed down to us by our ancestors along with the appreciation of the art of pottery. Each piece is crafted by hand, resulting in unique and durable tableware, that’s unmatched by mass-produced alternatives.
